CS Substance Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon

I don’t drink many American Cabs, and the ones I have drank are sure much more than $20.  So I did not have high expectations for this black beauty.  I was way off.  Actually this wine reminded me of some of my favorite Washington state wines that cost $40+.  How did they achieve this, I don’t know and if there is a secret sauce they are not telling.  I may have accidentally stumbled upon one of America’s great wine values.

Goes well with – At that price you can have it with anything you want.  It will go with anything red, fatty, or savory.   And the next day it was smooth enough to drink all by itself.  Like I said, this is some magical stuff.

Fun fact – The Columbia Valley of Washington has a unique set of factors that make it both one of the world’s best areas to grow wine and one of the best values in American wine.  There is seemingly endless land for vineyards, a dry climate with warm sunny days and cool nights, along with ample water for irrigation from the mighty Columbia river.
