Washington State / Mainly Cabernet & Merlot / Bordeaux Blend – It is fun to tell Francophile that Washington is the new Bordeaux, mainly just to annoy them. Awesome wines that are overshadowed by the wonderful Pinot (and other) wines of Oregon, and ubiquitous onslaught of California wines (Attack of the Clones, anybody?). Wines from Washington State can certainly than hold their own.
What makes this region special – Perfect growing conditions, has not became too big or commercial. There is no signature wine, like Pinot & Oregon, so that could be a reason why it is less known. Just about everything is good.
